Yakima Rotary Club Grants

The Yakima Rotary club has award millions of dollars in grants in its 90 year history. Today Yakima Rotary offers a variety of Grants to serve the community needs. The Community leaders have entrusted Yakima Rotary to invest their donations to benefit our Citizens. Yakima Rotary has a rich history of helping those in need that can only be done by this dedicated group of local Rotarians. Our club donates our time, talent, and treasures to the benefit of our entire community.

Allocation and Review Grants

Each year the Yakima Rotary club oversees and directs awards to local and international projects that are funded by the Yakima Rotary Charities. The money used to fund these grants comes from the Yakima Rotary Clubs Auction. A club committee reviews each grant request that is submitted and recommends an action to the Board of Directors. Each grant is evaluated for its ability to benefit our local citizens and enhance our community. The focus of these grants is to promote startup ideas, pilot projects, or activities that can involve local Rotarians. Grants are also awarded to international projects that have established connections with international Rotary clubs. You can find an application for a grant here: Download Application

Literacy Grants

The literacy committee directs and awards grants aimed specifically at promoting literacy in our community. Each year our club awards grants to local schools and organizations that promote increasing literacy in our valley. This committee has done an amazing job in recent years. A few examples of their work: A community wide book recycle program that resulted in students in every elementary school in Yakima receiving brand new books at no charge. The Literacy committee also leads a group of Rotarians that go into the Yakima schools and read to students in the classroom. Yakima Rotary is so dedicated to promoting literacy that a separate grant fund is available just for local programs that promote reading. Please go here for an application.

Other Grants

Our club also does a major club project each year. While this is not a "grant" that can be applied for it is a project that makes a significant impact our community. The last 6 years has seen a new playground at Kiwanis Park, two "Habitat for Humanity" houses entirely funded by the club, a new playground at Franklin Park, and a renovation of the Hearing and Speech clinic (originally funded by Rotary as a startup organization back in the early 1970’s). The club projects are under the direction of the President and culminate with the help of the entire club.

Another source of Rotary Grants is the Yakima Rotary Trust. The trust is made up of members for each of the three Yakima Rotary clubs (Downtown, Sunrise, and Southwest). The grant application for the Yakima Rotary Trust can be found here: Download Application
