Brian Newberry, Girl Scouts of Eastern WA and Northern Idaho

Brian Newberry is the CEO of Girl Scouts, Eastern Washington and Northern Idaho. His council serves an area comprised of 19 counties in central and eastern Washington, and 10 counties in northern Idaho for a total of 29 counties covering 67,000 square miles where they energetically serve approximately 3,500 girls in kindergarten through 12th grade with the help of 2,000 dedicated adult volunteers and an expert staff of 35. They are the preeminent leadership development organization for girls in Eastern Washington and Northern Idaho.

 Prior to his CEO appointment, Brian led as Executive Director another outstanding leadership organization in the region, Leadership Spokane, founded in 1982. With over 1,300 adult graduates and 650 youth alumni, his program inspired a diverse community of youth and adult leaders to seek leadership roles to build a stronger community. Brian was also a Spokane Public School Board member from 2017-2019 serving the second largest school district in the state with over 29,000 students.

 

 From 2012 to 2014, Colonel Brian M. Newberry was the Commander of the 92nd Air Refueling Wing, based out of Fairchild Air Force Base, Washington. The Wing provides global reach airpower and deploys expeditionary forces in support of worldwide combat, contingency, and humanitarian requirements. It operated 35 KC-135 Stratotanker aircraft performing air refueling, airlift, and aeromedical evacuation missions. He also commanded an Expeditionary Operations Group and an airlift squadron. He is a 1991 USAF Academy distinguished graduate. Colonel Newberry was a command pilot with more than 4,300 flying hours, 397 combat hours, and flying five military aircraft.
